We All Have a Story to Tell

SAMSUNG

Vicarious Lines is the collaborative project that YOU want to be a part of. You know you do.

I don’t care if you’re not a “writer”  or an “artist” or a whatever other label you are or aren’t, I want your story. We all want your story.

You might be thinking, “But I don’t have a cool story, Susan.”

Says who?

You mightn’t think that your life is interesting but that doesn’t mean that others won’t. The stories that are everyday and uninteresting to me, because they are a part of my life, are what others have read and loved and shared for almost 10 years. I want you to share yours too.

What are the rules? Pretty simple. When you create your post think of it in the form of (your name): On Being a/the …….

Examples:

  • Liz: On Being a Mum of a Slacker.
  • Sam: On Being Twenty Something and Not Knowing What to Do With My Life.
  • Pete: On Being the Guy in the Bathtub with Two Girls.
  • Faith: On Being a Magician’s Girlfriend.
  • The Grape Nuts Defender: On Being a Squirrel. Wait, what?

What exactly am I looking for? I want your stories “On Being a/the….”  in the following forms:

  • Words – stories, prose, random words
  • Motion –  vlogging or video in general.
  • Sights – images, photography, art, things you’ve created
  • Sounds – music to share

We will be using tags to separate things further but they are the four main categories to think about. The submissions can be about anything and everything.

Want some ideas?

  • Tell the readers about something that happened to you, or even something you want to happen.
  • A dream you have, or a nightmare you’re escaping.
  • What you cooked for dinner, why you wore what you wore to work today.

Really whatever you want. Tell us your story. You don’t have to use your real name if you don’t want to, pen names are fine and dandy. You can share lots of detail or gloss over everything. It’s totally up to you.

I know you have a story to tell, so ahead and write.

Will you be paid? No, not unless you consider virtual high fives as payment. This is just for fun and bragging rights. You will have ownership of your work so you can repost at will.

I guess now you’re ready to share your story, and once you see your story online you might catch the bug like I did and keep on contributing.

Email your submissions to susan@vicariouslines.com.

Welcome aboard and thank you for playing a part in this project. I’m excited to see what we come up with.

- Susan
